October 19: Our Baby is 6!

It's been quite a month as we have savored the last days of having a five year old and embraced our new six year old!  So many adventures!

One of the big things we did this past month was to get a new car!  A third row has become necessary because, with Big Brother's Sanfilippo, he can't control his impulses to throw or take toys from Little Sweetie.  For her safety, we moved to a larger car and so far it is working out.  She is very happy to have her own space (although she doesn't like being in the back and not being able to see us, so we have to keep the seat in front of her pushed down).

Trying out the areas of the new Subaru!

Another big first this month was a solo trip with Momma back to Ohio!  We needed to attend cousin K's wedding and Big Brother had a dinner he needed to attend at home, so we made a quick girls' trip and had a lot of fun.

Raise your hand if you're ready to go on a fun trip with Momma!

We got to have a fun day at the McKinely Museum with Mamaw and Papaw and with Aunt D and Cousin J who came into town!  We finished it off with lunch and ice cream at Taggarts!

Enjoying hotel life!

Pretty girls area ready for a wedding!

Waiting for the bouquet toss!

Congratulations Cousin K!

Twinkies are ready to head back to Texas!

And you know what we found when we got back to Texas?  Another surprise!  Daddy and Bubby had adopted a puppy while we were gone!  Welcome to the family Buster Brown!

Buster is already a beloved member of our family and brings us so much joy!

We are also following the family tradition of keeping too busy!  The kids are still in Run Club and got their first race of the season in, but Little Sister has also now added on Fall Ball and, momma's favorite, Girl Scouts!

Our runner girl!

Our baseball girl (with Assistant Coach Daddy) has been playing hard!  She earned the sportsmanship medal after her first game.

Helping Momma sew on her patches to officially become a Daisy!

We had some other big first this month too...

First lost tooth!

First library card and book checkout!

And obviously our cooking adventures never stop!

Trying our hand at cauliflower pizza!

Fresh crepes were delicious!

Can't beat homemade biscuits!

And then...she was 6!  How have these years flown by so quickly???  We were blessed to be able to celebrate with Mimi and PopPop and then with her friends at a Captain Marvel party.

Excited for cake and presents!

Our birthday queen had a great time on her big day!

Height and Weight
Litte Sweetie is up to 47.2 pounds this month and had a bit of a growth spurt and is now just over 44 inches!

Our family wouldn't be complete without this girl!

Personality
Completely and utterly herself.  May she always be this way and feel confident in who she is.

March to the beat of your own drum, little one.

Developmental Milestones
It's amazing the things she creates when she's bored and gives herself the opportunity to look for unique ways to use her time.  We've had a bit of a TV issue (we accidentally got her addicted to Scooby-Doo) but when we provide her the opportunities to use her mind, we are continually amazed with what she comes up with.

Fun Tidbits
As we do each year, Little Sweetie's birthday pictures are inspired by what she is most interested in this year.  Out spunky little super hero currently identifies as Captain Marvel and it couldn't be more perfectly capture than in these photos.

Our amazing girl.  May her adventurous spirit only grow!

Proud of everything that this little girl is and does and ever thankful for each day with her.

September 19

Our sweetest little kindergarten's school year is in full swing!  Momma's had to adjust to not having her little shadow by her side anymore and Little Sweetie has had to adjust to the all day aspect of school.  She's doing very well, just exhausted by the time she gets home.

Enjoying time at school!

Even though she's adjusting well to kindergarten, she still misses her preschool friends.  Thankfully, we have been able to keep in touch and enjoy a playdate together!

Feeding ducks and picnicking with the old crew!

Thankfully, we still find time to cook together.  I see this activity only becoming more important to us as time goes on.

Sesame meatballs!

Doing science experiments with a fizzy drink!

Apple cupcakes!

Pasta caprese!

Delicious salmon!

Taking her skills public with cupcake decorating at birthday party!

As fall begins, so does our desire to stay active!  Little Sweetie is excited about earning another marathon medal at Run Club and Chesney is excited for more family walks on cooler concrete.

Three miles in on the first night of Run Club!

Enjoying a family walk!

Height and Weight
Our little Rapunzel may be staying consistent at 46 pounds and just under 44 inches, but her hair is certainly growing like crazy!

Look at those golden locks!

Personality
So spunky and fun!  My biggest worry about her starting big kid school is that someone will try to squash her creative and fun impulses.  And then I will have to a fight a child.  May this little girl always stay SUPER!

I always feel safe with this super silly by my side!

Boxes that turn into rocket ships are the best toys.

Fun Tidbits
For Mother's Day, Little Sweetie wanted to take me to a tea shop for a mother-daughter tea party.  With the craziness of my defense and graduation, we didn't have a spare moment to do it until this month.  We had such a lovely time and I am so glad we made time to have this special afternoon together!

Ready for tea and all the treats!

Queen Momma and Queen Sweetie!

How I love this amazing kid!

And that's a wrap.  I'll be back, in October, with a 6 year old.  So bittersweet.

Goodnight,
