May 19

School is ending, swimming is starting, and we're moving houses. It's fine, I'm fine, everything's FINE. There's absolutely no issue balancing all the end of year school and activity commitments and a move; nothing at all, ay yi yi!

I will say Little Sweetie enjoyed what will likely be her last year of Elementary Track! Fifth graders have the option to stay in the elementary (experiential-based) league or move up to the scored Junior High events. She and her friend I had such a good time, I'm betting they will want to move up next year!

Enjoyed getting her run on with good friends (and getting great conditioning for the upcoming swim season too)!

Chess finished up too! This activity may not return next year, but we are glad she took part in it while she could.

Chess fun!

We also had the end of year athletic recognition where Little Sweetie was recognized for both Basketball and Track.

Proud of all of her hard work this year!

Girls Scouts also finished up! We enjoyed our last two activities of a Tae Kwon Do demonstration and our end of year pool party!

Another great year of Scouting!

We did have some bittersweet news going into the end of the year. Little Sweetie's teacher, Ms. T.,  had to go on medical leave in March for heart surgery and was hoping she'd be back by the end of the year. Thankfully, she is recovering well, but working on endurance and strength is taking a bit longer. She came back to talk to the kids about the situation and promised to come to Mass on the last day.

The kids were sad, but understood. And Little Sweetie was happy she got to show her the "dress like your favorite teacher" outfit she had put together for Teacher Appreciation Week!

We also had several performances this month, with Little Sweetie being cast in a major role in the Spring Showcase performance of "Kings, Dreams, & Schemes: The Adventures of Daniel," singing with the Choir, and her piano recital. She worked really hard for each and did very well!

Dress rehearsal and performance!

E came to support her theater debut and she was happy to share the experience with her kinder buddy, G, who was also cast!

Singing at 8th grade graduation with the Choir, where she got to see Ms. T again!

Finishing her 5th year of piano; we are so proud of her!

In addition to all of that, many of Little Sweetie's friends had birthdays, which meant she had a lot of parties to attend!

Great sleepover for T's birthday!

Pottery painting for C's birthday!

Lots of fun at the twins' party!

Even if our lives will never cease being busy, I was proud to celebrate being a mom to this crazy household on Mother's Day (where the choir performed again as well).

Happy Mothers' Day to me!

Somehow, we still found time for some cooking and getting adjusted bit by bit at the new house.

Making her favorite chocolate lava cake!

Learning to mow the (much more manageable-sized) lawn at the new house.

Checking out potential new furniture.

Enjoying the park in the new neighborhood!

Height and Weight
Growing right before our eyes! Up to 80.6 lbs. this month and still about 57.25 inches.

Personality
We will continue to talk about moderating her tone with Daddy and I, but she's sweet and helpful and continues to maintain great friendships.

The Trio

Developmental Milestones
She still continues to be interested in tinkering and building and creating, but I can also report that this is the first month she's been interested in really doing her own hair?!? I'll be interested if this phase sticks.

Any excuse to build something!

Oddly interested in claw clips and trying to style her own hair. It's a work in progress!

Fun Tidbits
We decided to have Big Brother's birthday pictures taken at the new house this month and got some fantastic sibling and family shots. We may face a lot, but at least we face it together.

"As long as we have each other, we've got the world spinning right in our hands."

Now we are headed into the thick of it with swim team and finishing up the school year. By next month, we'll be fully in the new house! It's intimidating, but we are ready for our next adventure.

Good night,

LSM
