December 19

Happy December and happy fourteen months to our Little Sweetie!  Lots of fun things this month as we head into Christmas!

We put our tree and decorations up during Thanksgiving weekend, so it's been Christmasy around the house for awhile.  One of the first items that makes an appearance is "Pat", our elf on the shelf.  Now Pat doesn't do anything too crazy (because, honestly, Momma and Daddy are pretty lazy), but he does hide somewhere new every morning and Big Brother always has fun trying to find him (although this year Pat also began the tradition of bringing us a wrapped Christmas book each night--what I great way to make sure we actually read all of our Christmas books!).  We couldn't have been prepared for how quickly Little Sweetie caught on to the game and how much she would enjoy find Pat and looking for the book present each night!

While Little Sweetie did enjoy Pat, she wasn't too keen on that other jolly person in a red hat associated with the holiday.  We've got lots of "Santa is NOT my best friend" pictures, including this one from the Anadarko Kids' Christmas Party.

Get.  Me.  Out.  Of.  Here.

Overall, though, she seemed to really enjoy the start of the season and was more into it than we were expecting, which made it more fun for the whole family.

Helping Daddy put up Christmas lights.

Decorating her felt tree.  Her and brother were actually great this year about leaving the family Christmas tree alone.

Stories with Santa at a friends' Christmas party.  Santa was ok...from a distance, while seated in Daddy's lap.

Enjoying trying on her new Christmas dress!

Mommy and Daddy also wanted to get into the holiday spirit, so we got tickets to the Radio City Rockettes.  We did have a sitter cancel on us, but Aunt S, Uncle M, and Baby L saved the day by being our backups. Little Sweetie and Big Brother had great fun with them!

What's this?  Daddy and Momma headed out on a date?  It's a Christmas miracle!

Please go.  This is my special time with Aunt S, not yours.

Chilling with Baby L.

Brother's computer?  Ha!  Possession is 9/10s of the law!  It's mine now!

We've also had a bit of a schedule transition this month.  As you know, Little Sweetie and Big Brother are great friends and love to do things together (and yell "cheese truck" to each other, because it's the best joke ever, obviously).

Best buddies!

But brother was accepted into our school district's early childhood development program and started school on December 1.  He starts his mornings at home with either occupational or speech therapy (sometimes both) and then the bus picks him up for his school day.  This means that sister and I are pretty homebound right now.  We play together in the morning while brother has his therapy and then take a walk once he leaves for school, which allows her to take a short late morning nap.  Then lunch, some more play, and afternoon nap.  She's often asleep when brother gets home, but if she's not, she waits and watches for him to arrive on the bus.

Come home, big brother!

Once or twice a week we try to run errands and each lunch with either Daddy or Aunt S.  Sometimes Aunt S even comes over and we trade baby watching so that we can get a few solo runs in.  But it has been getting a little rough being stuck home all day, so we are looking forward to January, when Little Sweetie will start doing her own My Gym class on Wednesday!  She can't wait!

Height and Weight
Added just a bit of weight (which is crazy considering how much she eats) and is now 23 lbs. and 30 inches.

Personality
Super sweet and smiley as always...until she doesn't get her way.  The drama has started!  Really started.  For example:

After being told that she wasn't allowed to double-dip a chip.

Upon realizing that I was holding Baby L and couldn't feed her until Aunt S came back from her run.  Life is so hard!

Not wanting to take a nap.  Oh the many faces of Little Sweetie!

Developmental Milestones
Let's see...so much going on!  She walks like a pro and has finally mastered coming down the stairs on her own (this seemed to take a bit longer since she seemed to think she should learn to walk down them like her big brother...she finally decided climbing down may be the best strategy for right now).  She's a great eater (although the opposite foods of brother.  Where he liked breads, she likes meats.  Lots of meat.  She's a very committed carnivore.  Well, a carnivore whom loves berries too!).  She's also been doing great on her sign language and seems to like communicating with us for "more," "help,", "water," and such.  And, my non-climbing baby who had lulled me into calmness has now decided that she's a proud climbing baby.  She likes to go up on the fireplace, but so far is too short to really handle the couch yet.

Proud girl!

She's also doing really great using utensils to eat.  Some days she refuses to eat until she gets her fork!

"I'm a baby, momma, not a barbarian."

Fun Tidbits
It's been really great watching her learn to "play" this month.  Her favorite toys include matchbox cars, dolls, doing stickers, riding the rocking horse, and finding inventive uses for her brother's underwear.  It's so fun to watch her grow and be creative!

Good little mommy, feeding her doll and putting her (and herself) to sleep on our walk!

Yee haw, cowgirl!

Yes, these are my brother's (clean) underwear and yes, they make great hats!

And we are really looking forward to the end of this month...Mimi and Pop-Pop and coming for Christmas followed by Mamaw and Papaw coming for New Year's!  It's going to be lots of fun for Little Sweetie and Big Brother.  Let the spoiling commence!

Have a great night,

Thanksgiving!

We have a lot to be thankful for this year, especially now with this one off and running!

Let's go!

We started our Thanksgiving off with what we hope will be a new family tradition, participating in the annual Run Through the Woods!  Little Buddy and Daddy ran the kids' race, followed by doing the 3 mile walk with Aunt S, while I ran the five mile run with Uncle M, Ms. A, and Mr. A.

Someone is ready to run his first race!

"Can we start yet, Daddy?"

And there he goes!

His first medal!  We are so proud of him!

Proudly strolling with Ms. B and Ms. P during the walk!

Great time as a family!

Little Sweetie can't wait to join in on the running fun!

We spent the rest of Thanksgiving enjoying food, friends, and family.  We were so busy enjoying ourselves, I didn't have time to get a picture!  We spent the rest of the weekend getting into the Christmas spirit, seeing a movie (Big Hero 6--Little Buddy loved it!) and even got some bonus Uncle C and A time!

Time to decorate for Christmas!

Bike riding time with Uncle C and A.  Safety first, get your helmets!

Lots of fun in the leaves!

It was a great long weekend, and especially fun being together as a family because, as of tomorrow, Little Buddy will be a full-time student!  I am going to miss him so much, but I know he's going to love it.  And I am looking forward to some special momma-daughter time with Little Sweetie. So thankful for so many things, one of which is that Little Buddy gets the opportunity to go to school and get his needs met.  Great things are coming!

Good night,

November 19

And now we're 13 months old and walking all over the place as if we own it.  This is girl is ready to leave her mark on the world.  Just not sure if Momma is ready to let her grow up quite yet.

"Hi world!  Let's have some fun!"

Lots of dress-up fun this month.  Unlike her brother, Little Sweetie is always pretty excited to get dressed and accessorized.  She wants to be a big kid like brother!

My cute little skeletons hanging out with me while Daddy had a doctor's appointment, followed by Little Sweetie being an adorable skeleton nurse and taking good care of Daddy.

Loving her new Chi O legacy bib and it's ability to help her play peek-a-boo!

Decked out in patriotic gear as she and brother accompany me to cast my vote (in the rain, no less.  They are troopers).

Rocking her Cleveland Browns gear because, somehow, Believeland has a winning record?!?!

Modeling her new super hero underpants, which we had to get because she wouldn't stop stealing Brother's!

Every day is also an adventure as she is constantly on the lookout for new things to explore and discover.  A simple trip to the park can quickly turn into a proud naturalist displaying her new acorn collection!

"Where are we going, Momma?  The park?  Great!  I love the park!"

"We can go on the slides and the swings and...wait, what's this, Momma?  That thing right there!"

"See, it's right here!  It's an...an...an...an acorn!  Amazing!  Let's collect 20 more!"

Height and Weight
Gained a bit of weight and height and is now 22 lbs. and 30 inches.

Personality
Little Sweetie is definitely coming into her own.  She's so happy, but she's also mischievous and she know's how to play our heartstrings.  We catch her doing something she should be doing (like emptying a baby wipes container) and she breaks into tears like her world has ended and suddenly we're the ones rushing to apologize.  Yes, we are wrapped around her little finger.  We admit it.

Developmental Milestones
She's got this walking thing down and she's starting to get fast.  The cutest part of it is when she walks over to us to give us hugs, just because she wants to.  We love it!  Well, Daddy and I do.  Big Brother sometimes reciprocates and sometimes is too busy playing.  Chesney's tolerating her love, even when she's teasing him with an apple (which I think she also stole from Brother when he wasn't looking).

"My puppy!"

She's still sleeping well, both at naps and at night, although sometimes she tells me I'm just too fun and that she doesn't want to nap because it should be playtime!

Two instances of when someone should be sleeping, but she prefers to hang out and stick out her tongue at me.  She's lucky she's cute!

She also LOVES food and is completely on table food and rarely displays pickiness.  She nods enthusiastically when offered some of her favorites and she's now eating kid meals at restaurants because she's always so hungry.  I think "hot dog" will be her next word!

"FOOD!!!!"

Her pretend play has also started and, while she does really enjoy playing with brother's cars and the kitchen, she's also beginning to play with dolls too.  She'll be a great Momma someday, as long as she remembers to feed her baby's mouth and not her baby's nose.

"Why won't baby eat, Momma?  Does it go in her eye, maybe?"

Fun Tidbits
The bathroom is her favorite room in the whole house because that is where she can go use her potty and clap for herself and where she can get her favorite thing...a bath!  Seriously, if you say "bath" in any part of the house, she immediately stops what she is going, stands up, vigorously nods her head yes, and runs to bathroom, trying to pull off her shirt the entire way.

Proud of her potty success and her mohawk!

Until the next adventure,
