December 19

And here we go into the holiday season!  We started off the Thanksgiving celebrations with a visit to the Christmas tree at Market Street and then a trip to San Antonio to see Mimi and Pop-Pop and enjoy Sea World.

Christmas is coming!

Always fun with the Sesame Street crew at Sea World!

For Thanksgiving week itself, we started off with our annual run, another visit with Mimi and Pop-Pop, and then an adventure to Galveston.

Go WILLPower, go!

Proud of our runner girl!

Thankful for these two amazing souls!

Little Sweetie set the table "all fancy" for Thanksgiving!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Ocean view from our Galveston hotel room!

Exploring Moody Gardens!

Waiting for the Polar Express to board!

Loving her ride on the Polar Express!

Finishing up our fun weekend with a visit to the Space Center!

Happy girl!

When we came home from our adventures, we found some more holiday surprises.  Our elf, Pat, had arrived and brought Christmas pajamas for everyone!

Hi Pat!

Looking dapper in our matching jammies!

The jammies were perfect for visiting Santa!

I would have to say that one of the best parts of preparing for the holiday was taking Little Sister downtown to the Houston Ballet's performance of the Nutcracker.  She was enraptured and did so well!

Momma and Little Sweetie date!

Excited and ready for the performance!

To absolutely no one's surprise, she picked a sword as her souvenir so she could fight like the Nutcracker!

All tired out on the drive home!

And as always, there was cooking time!  My Little Sweetie is so capable in the kitchen and I love seeing all the lessons she learns during our cooking sessions.

Making delicious and pretty egg toast!

Christmas tree cones!

Somebody made popcorn!

Mashing some sweet potatoes!

Making her signature cranberry sauce for Thanksgiving!

Height and Weight
Little Sweetie weights 47.4 pounds this month and is measuring 44.75 inches tall!

Personality
Monday Little Sweetie is a different person than Friday Little Sweetie, that's for sure!  Still happy and fun, but you can tell the school week tires her out and takes a lot out of her.

Developmental Milestones
She finds very creative ways to keep herself busy and I love seeing how her mind works and her ideas grow.

Clues and story charts she organizes on her bed rail.

So many building structures!

Fun Tidbits

Girl Scouts has been a great bonding activity for us and she's really taken an interest in sewing now that I have to have my machine out more to sew on her badges.

We leave later today for the MPS Conference and our Florida adventures...can't wait to share those experiences!

Until then,

November 19

It seems that I just blinked and now we're fully immersed into the school year and heading into the holidays!  What a month it's been!

We finished out October with Momma's birthday and a fun Halloween.  Our Captain Marvel loved hanging out with her Avengers friends to capture Thanos!

My two best forever birthday presents!

My pumpkins are ready for school on Halloween!

Captain Marvel and Captain America are ready to avenge some candy!

Black Widow joined them to help take down Thanos!

Goodnight my little skeletons!

Little Sweetie's been very busy with school activities and her Girl Scout troop this month.  She's always on the go!  We're so glad she's having such an exciting kindergarten year.

School Halloween party!

Fun at the school kickball event!

Ready for tie dye day during Red Ribbon Week!

Fall field trip fun to 7 Acre Wood!

Unfortunately, she tangled with a few fire ants on the field trip and had quite a few bites on her wrists and ankles.  Resting with her feet up with an ice pack to help the swelling go down.

As a proud Girl Scout myself, I can't help but be thrilled she's enjoying her Daisy adventures so much!

A great time up at the equestrian center!

Had a great troop cookout/campout experience!

Fun times learning about healthy food at a program at HEB!

And, of course, we're always cooking up a storm!

These tiny apple pies were amazing!

Carrot fish swimming in our seashell soup!

I was really proud of how much of the meatballs she did on her own for our Spaghetti and Meatball dinner!

Height and Weight
Little Sweetie weights 45.4 pounds this month and is measuring 44.5 inches tall!

The sweetest kindergartner I ever did see!

Personality
She is happy and excitable, but we've noticed a lot of emotional variance when she is tired and tasks are difficult or don't go her way.  Working on helping her regulate her emotions, while still validating them, and helping her listen to how her body feels and what factors, like being tired, may be making her prone to being upset.

All smiles after fixing her math homework, but was a complete wreck when she missed a question a few minutes earlier.  Working on helping her keep a growth mindset and to not internalize mistakes, but to see them as learning opportunities and practice, which they are.

Developmental Milestones
Extremely focused and creative.  Being bored is the best gift we can give her an it's working out well.

Took it upon herself to find an empty notebook and work on her letters and numbers writing.

Authored and illustrated a creative story about The Night Girl and has read it to us several times.

Fun Tidbits
This year was the first where an international World Sanfilippo Awareness Day was celebrated.  We took this picture in honor of the day and I love seeing our family holding on to each other, supporting one another.

We are stronger together.

It's crazy to believe in one month we'll be headed to Disney for the annual MPS Conference and then it's Christmas and the end of 2019!  Here we go!

See you in December,
