July 19

Hot town, summer in the city!  Little Sweetie's been living it up this summer with lots of camps and family adventures.  Enjoying these last months of full-time fun before kindergarten starts.

Our amazing artist showing her skills at art camp!

Science camp was a bit hit again this year, especially because Little Sweetie's friend, G, was in the same section with her.

Our first big adventure for the summer...a San Antonio trip to visit Mimi and Pop-Pop and Morgan's Wonderland!  We were also very lucky to spend time with some of our Sanfilippo family while there too!

Road trip ready!

Morgan's Wonderland fun!

Hanging with Ms. A, so nice to see her!

Sanfilippo families, united!

She's got Pop-Pop wrapped around her finger!  :)

Next up, it was time for an Astros game with our friends, the E family!

We made it the entire game and Little Sweetie even got to run the bases!  She was definitely worn out afterwards!

Another fun adventure was our trip to a super hero exhibit at a local art museum.  Little Sweetie LOVED seeing all the artistic depictions of super heroes, especially the artist that rendered them as cats!

My heroes!

Little Sweetie's souvenir...a print of Captain Meowlvel!

Little Sweetie got to have a special adventure...she got to go with Daddy to see the Aladdin Musical at the Hobby Center.  She loved it, but now all we do is listen to the soundtrack on repeat!

Father-Daughter time!

The 4th of July was great family fun as well...fireworks and crowds in hot weather aren't really our thing, so we opted to pick blueberries and then play with simple fireworks and sparklers in the backyard.

What a fun family day together!

More simple summer fun includes impromptu ice cream trips, making an indoor beach, and playtime with big brother.

She's an ice cream friend!

Sand, beach blanket, and a pretend ocean...check!

I love it when they figure out a way to play together!

Of course, our cooking is still going strong!

These kale chips were surprisingly delicious!

Eating this quinoa salad was like eating a delicious rainbow!

Scone time!  This may be my favorite thing that she's learned how to make!

Animal crackers were one of the most unique thing we have made.  There is definitely an art to it.

Height and Weight
Little Sweetie is staying consistent at 45.4 pounds and at 43.75 inches.

Personality
While so mature in some ways, she absolutely reminds us that she's still only 5 years old in other ways.  There's so much growing and emotion right now and we continually remind ourselves that she's only been on this planet for 5 years and talking full sentences for 2.5 of those years.  She's fun and amazing, but she's still allowed to be figuring everything out.

Amazing, happy, and super creative skier in July.  Love doing things with her.

Complete meltdown.  Did I mention she's finally dropped her nap this summer?  It's definitely an adjustment.

Developmental Milestones
I keep telling her that the best gift I can give her is the opportunity to be bored.  She doesn't agree with me at first, but eventually she gives in and lets her creatively flow.  A little painters tape turned into an entire afternoon creating an airplane obstacle course (with her stuffed animals climbing across a mountainous crevice).

Just amazed by what she creates!

Fun Tidbits
We found a baby bird in our yard and helped take care of it, keeping it safe while its parents fed it.  Little Sweetie took it very seriously and went straight to work making a bird house for any other needy birds.

My sweet-hearted girl!

Good night,
