Ringing in 2024!

Happy January and happy New Year! My resolution is get back on track with posting these monthly memory updates, so let's get started!

Little Sweetie ended last year enjoying her first Rockets game, Christmas, and a choir trip to Rome (!) and has settled into her second semester of 4th grade. She's doing well in school and as the youngest member of the basketball team. We've also had fun with friends at birthday parties and Girl Scout events this month!

Finishing the school year with the annual Talent Show and her piano performance!

Our first holiday break adventure was taking our basketball loving girl to her first Rockets game with her friends!

What a great night!

We also enjoyed walks outside and time on the waterway.

Music time!

Our next adventure was to go see Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella...happy to see how much is "possible!"

My favorite musical theatre loving girl!

Then the work of the holidays began.  Time to bake cookies! Little Sweetie's schedule is so busy now, we rarely get time to cook together anymore, so I was glad to at least get some holiday baking in.

Beautiful and delicious!

We got those cookies done just in time!  Christmas was here! We started Christmas Even off with the Children's Christmas Eve Mass at Church and made it home just in time for a special visitor...Santa!

Ready for church!

Santa doing a quick stopover before continuing on his journey for the night!

Milk, cookies, and carrots are ready!

Even the doll had on her new Christmas jammies!

Ready for some Christmas Magic!

Little Sweetie woke up first and was excited to start opening her presents!

Then she turned into her super sibling self and helped Big Brother with his gifts!

Enjoying her new 3D pen!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Christmas came and went quickly, because the next day Little Sweetie and I flew to Rome for her choir trip. It was an amazing experience and will get its own post as it is too much to post here.

Rome for a week, but we missed our boys!

Coming back home, the year started off busy (no surprise there!) with her friend's Hawaiian-themed birthday party and our annual Girl Scout Family Campout!

Happy birthday, C!

Another fun & cold campout!

She enjoyed the campout so much, she asked for a campfire the night after we got home too!

With the holidays done, she's happy to be back at school and hanging with her besties, T and I! They are a great group of kids and I'm so glad they have each other.

Besties!

Height and Weight
Little Sweetie is staying pretty steady weight wise, coming in at 73.2 lbs this month. I'll take it, because it hopefully means true puberty is still a ways off (crosses fingers).  She measured at nearly 56 inches too!

Personality
The boundary pushing and good-natured arguing are really inescapable right now. She's still happy and silly, but man, she's a little lawyer always trying to catch us in the details. It's exhausting, but I keep reminding myself that a strong-will girl isn't going to take crap from any body. Plus, she's still very young and sweet in some ways, like with stuffies.

Loving on her new sales reward from Girl Scouts, Cuddles the Ocelot!

Developmental Milestones
We are so proud of how much skill development and maturity she's shown being on the basketball team this year. Even as the youngest player, she's very dedicated into putting in the time and effort to improve. We're excited to see where her interest and hard work take her.

Putting in her time on the court!

Fun Tidbits
While on our Rome trip, I introduced Little Sweetie to Harry Potty!  She's obsessed and currently finished the 4th book.

Our favorite reader! She spent an ice day off of school by the fire, completely devouring Book 3!

And that's it for this month! Glad to be getting back in the swing of things and continuing to document our Little Sweetie's adventures!

Good night,
