Happy Halloween!

The fall season is in full swing here in Texas (by calendar; by weather, not so much!) so the kids have been getting ready for Halloween!  We got our pumpkins carved and our costumes chosen!

Pumpkins carved with silly and scary faces:  check!  Little Sweetie was an excellent pumpkin guts scooper!

When Halloween arrived, these two couldn't wait.  They had picked out their favorite characters to be and were ready to show them off while Trick-or-Treating with their friends!

Say hello to Ryder from Paw Patrol and the one and only, Minnie Mouse (this was a clever re-use of her Minnie-theme birthday party dress--her choice)!

Momma dressed up as her favorite super hero--a genetics researcher working to end Sanfilippo!

AFter Momma and Daddy took WAY too many porch pictures, we headed over to our friends Ms. E and Mr. E's house for some dinner and Trick-or-Treating!  I love our annual Halloween get-together and it means even more now.  To see Little Buddy with his friends and trying to interact with them and knowing that all the families accept him as he is and understand him, well, it just means a lot to have friends like that.  We are truly blessed.

Our little scarecrow friend, B!

Little Buddy headed up to the playroom!

The best momma friends in the world!

Ms. J, Mr. D, and Little K!

Buddies!

Momma and Daddy!

Our attempt at a group picture with the kids!  Little Sweetie was not thrilled and Little Buddy kept trying to run back to the playroom!

Time for the main event....Trick-or-Treating!  Little Sweetie got into it very quickly and was searching out the houses with the lights on!  Neither of the kids eat much candy, but they were excited for the lollipops!

Another wonderful Halloween!

Happy Halloween all,

October 19: Someone is turning TWO!!!

Well, it's happened.  My baby girl has officially turned 2!  It's a bittersweet milestone.  We're so proud of the girl she is becoming, but we are also missing those baby days.  We've had a lovely month leading up to the big day though!

One of my favorite breakfast companions!

Actually, she's one of my favorite companions for any meal!  And she's a big fan of food as well...too bad we can't get to really gain any weight!

Cheering Daddy on at the Marietta College Golf Outing!

Little Sweetie has really enjoyed starting up running this fall!  She did her first race and continues to enjoy Run Club with Big Brother.  We are very proud of her!

Ready to run her first race...

And she's off!

Ready to cross the finish line!

Thirsty girl after her race!

Showing off her medal!

A well-deserved rest!

Showing off at Run Club!

We also got to go to a Baby Boot Camp playdate at a fire station!  I used to do a lot of playdates and outings with Big Brother when he was little, but, because of all the scheduling issues, haven't been as proactive at getting Little Sweetie to them.  I was so excited that we could make this one!

Seeing the firemen in their gear!

Checking out the fire truck with her friend, M!

Bye-bye, fire truck!

Even though we don't get many playdates, we are able to do lots of things together and with friends.  She especially loves seeing her friends or going shopping at the Mall or her beloved Target.

Loving helping Baby L walk after our lunch date!  She felt like such a big girl!

Her beloved sitter, Ms. A, stopped by for a quick visit while home from college!  Little Sweetie was so excited!

She also loves doing things with her Bubby.  These moments make me happy beyond words.

Just hanging out with my two favorite "things"!

Did I hear my birthday was coming up?  I want this.  It's blue.

We were also very fortunate to capture some beautiful pictures to commemorate her upcoming birthday thanks to our amazing photographer.

Love her faces!

Mischief on her mind!

Love this!  Her favorite thing to do right now is to pretend a ride a horse!

Someone is ready to be two!  (Even though Momma may not be ready for it!)

Love that she chose Minnie Mouse as her birthday theme this year!

Daddy's girl.

Momma and her Baby Girl.

So grateful we were able to capture these beautiful family moments celebrating our Little Sweetie!

We celebrated her birthday with friends and family a little early in month (two of our friends have babies due closer to the end of the month!) and a fun time was had by all as we celebrated Little Sweetie and her beloved Minnie Mouse!

Beautiful cake and cupcakes!

Wasn't too sure about the candle thing...

...but started to warm up once she was presented with cake!

And she was definitely in her element once it came to playtime and presents!

Peek...     A....

...Boo!  I'm nearly two!

She finished the day by taking her new stroller from Uncle M, Aunt S, and Baby L out for a spin!

Her last official night as a one year old!  She told me that she'll be "two" tomorrow!

On her official birthday, we let her pick whatever she wanted to do to celebrate!  It definitely ended up being a day of Little Sweetie's favorite
things!

She was so excited to go to her My Gym class and was even more excited when it turned out to be bubble day!

My Gym was followed by a quick stop at the park for some sliding!

Then it was off to Jason's Deli to meet Daddy, Uncle M, and Aunt S for her favorite meal:  cottage cheese, a hot dog, and fruit!

We even got a strawberry shortcake to celebrate!

Oh our sweet Minnie Mouse...we love you so much!

And it's a day.  Our two year old is ready for bed!  She looks so big!

Height and Weight
Her stats from her well check have her as being 25 lbs, 8 oz. (33%) and 34.25 inches (69%).  While still being a bit small in terms of weight, she's perfectly healthy and growing strong!

Personality
Our sweet girl is starting the terrible twos!  She's getting a bit moody and emotional and demanding sometimes, while the rest of the time she is full of smiles and joys.  Of course, she only shows us the more negative behaviors.  Everyone else can't believe it when we tell them our little angel has her less than angelic moments too!

The Pouting Step:  If she's not getting her way, she'll now go lay on the bottom step (where she fits perfectly) and, you guessed it, pouts.  We just leave her there until she calms down and then she normally comes and gets us, all smiles again!

Developmental Milestones
Hitting all her milestones, though still not big on jumping off of things with both feet.  It's times like this I am so happy we have her genetic screening results.  Big Brother never jumped off of things with two feet either, and we thought it was just a quirk (Daddy didn't jump until he was older either).  Looking back, it could have just been a quirk or it could have been a sign of his delays.  With Little Sweetie, we know it's just a quirk because we had her tested.  Other than the jumping, she is actually right on time or even advanced her in milestones (most likely because of all of the tactics we've employed around the house to keep Big Brother on task).  She's even starting to take an interest in pre-school work, asking to do some of her brother's workbooks!

Doing some learning time!

Showing off her scissor skill!

Fun Tidbits
I actually have a snacker!  Big brother preferred to eat big meals at meal times and just water throughout the day.  Little Sweetie is becoming a regular at asking for her "cookies and crackers" in her self-designated snack bowl.  She'll also accept ham and swiss cheese in said bowl.  We try to watch the snacks so that she will actually eat at meal times, but we're also happy for a few extra times a day to sneak some more calories in!  She still won't drink milk, though, despite now being nearly a month weaned!

Until next month,
