September 19

Well, summer ended and life attempted to settle into routine until...it didn't.  Thankfully our beautiful girl is super adaptable and lights up our life even when times are hard.

Overall the month started ok.  Big brother headed off to school and Little Sweetie and I got to have some special momma-daughter time before preschool started for her.

Spider-girl wishing Big Brother a great first day of school!

Kisses!

Walking him to the bus!

We had one quick little detour with some weird 24 hour tummy thing, but then we started our adventures!

One of the first things we did was FINALLY cross the Houston Children's Museum off our list.  I've been waiting to do this for a long time.  We had a great day together!

Swan boat day with Momma and Daddy!  We even got to see baby ducklings!

We've also been cooking up a storm lately.  I really love watching home much fun she has cooking and all the new skills she learns.

Peeling eggs for egg salad sandwiches.

Prepping her turkey club subs!

Homemade fudge!

Then we got to have the special experience of shopping for a flower girl dress together too!  She had a lot of fun.

She's so beautiful!

Here's the winner!  It will have a teal belt.

And then it was time for Little Sweetie to get ready to start her school year.  All ready for Pre-K 4!  This year she will go Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.  It is still a half day program, except one day she stays for lunch bunch and an art class.  I'm selfish and am not ready to give up our picnics or afternoons yet.  Also, she's still taking naps pretty regularly, so I want to make sure she gets her rest (otherwise, she's not a happy camper by dinner time).

Had a great time at Meet the Teacher and can't wait to for school to start!

Last year of preschool!

First day success!

Unfortunately, as all of this was going on, Big Brother wasn't feeling quite like himself. He acted like he had a little cold, but couldn't quite kick it.

Checking on Big Brother.  He kept getting sent home from school with low grade fever, a cough, and lethargy.

We hoped that a lot of rest over the Labor Day weekend would help him feel better.  We even got to play with Aunt S and L.

Lots of fun with these kiddos!

When Big Brother still wasn't getting better, we took him back into the doctor.  Thanks to a precautionary x-ray, we found out that he had a severe case of bacterial pneumonia (with atypical presentation, as he didn't act nearly as sick as he was).  Little Sweetie stayed with Ms. J and Ms. D for a week while Daddy and I stayed in the hospital with Big Brother.  We hated to be away from her, but were so thankful that she had good friends that she could be with during such a tough time.  Her visits always made us smile.  She did really well, but she did miss us all being together and wanted to know why she couldn't stay in the hospital with us.

Giving us lots of smiles in the hospital!

Grateful for Ms. D!

Thankfully, Big Brother's treatment was successful and he was able to come home after 8 days and we could all be together under one roof again!  Big Brother had to stay home with us for another week to get his strength back before returning to school, so we got to spend a lot of time together.

So happy her brother is home!

Excited about Chuy's lunches together while Bubby is out of school!

Height and Weight
Bumped up over 40 pounds this month (40.8, we'll see if she can maintain it!) and up to 41.5 inches!

Personality

She is so full of life!  She talks to much and is so expressive and funny in her vocabulary (and also very contrary) but it's so wonderful to see the person she is taking shape.  She dances at any opportunity, to music she hears or music she makes up on her own, but she always takes a moment to appreciate the simple things that amaze her and makes me stop and take stock too, be it the Old Navy dog or a cool cloud or bug.  I love being with her.

A trip to return something to Old Navy instantly becomes the best day ever with my little adventurer because there is a dog statute, music playing to dance to, and a mirror so you can dance with yourself!

Developmental Milestones
Our inquisitively minded girl is still into all things science and learning how the world around her works!  She's being able to be more hands on in her experiments instead of Daddy and I doing as much.

Learning about color and the cohesion property of water!

Her fine motor is also still going strong.  She can do very small, detail work now.  Pretty soon she'll be able to do some of the classes at our local craft stores!

The USA puzzle doesn't stand a chance against her!  Ready to move up to more complex puzzles!

And the biggest excitement of all for her this month was her being able to start a gymnastics class!  I'm actually very impressed at her beginning skill level and am happy we decided to let her try it.

Of course she picked the Captain America leotard!

Fun Tidbits
This girl is super hero and adventure central, so it's no surprise that she chose Spider Girl as her Halloween costume.  She's living the dream when she wears it!

Criminals better beware!

And now that we have made it through September, I realize I only have one month left with my 4 year old.  Next month our baby girl officially turns 5 and a whole new world opens up.  Five is just a big milestone age for me in my head.  How can she already be this big?

See you then,
