March 19

Wow...it's been quite month and the world has gone topsy-turvy.  The only place to begin is at the beginning, so that is where we'll start.

The month began normal enough.  Little Sister enjoyed Marti Gras parties at her school, had Ash Wednesday to mark the beginning of Lent, and enjoyed Go Texas Day!

Ready for Lent!

My favorite cowkids!

We, of course, had our normal cooking lessons and time together.

A delicious snack!

Homemade tomato soup and croutons!

We had fun during the annual marathon events with our awesome WILLPower team.

Kids' race day!

Our running girl!

Some special post race picnic time with Momma!

And had some Girl Scout fun!

Painting with our troop!

Playing camping with Little Sweetie's dolls.

We even got a little normal Spring Break fun in with a zoo day!

Enjoying all the picture posing opportunities!

And then the world changed.  Well, stopped really.  A novel strain of the coronavirus, COVID-19, began to spread through the world and cause a global pandemic.  Spring Break was extended and then home-school teaching was instituted.  Everything is closed and we are practicing social distancing and self-isolating to keep us and Big Brother safe, as well as the rest of the public.  It's been quite a transition for Little Sweetie and she's missing her friends, her school, and her routine.  Thankfully, Daddy has been able to work from home and help, but there's a lot going on right now.  We're trying our best, but continually praying for grace and patience.

Someone is not excited about this "home school" concept.

Having Little Sweetie tell us her usual schedule as we try to craft a new home school schedule together.

Here we go!

School outside.

Art class.

Science class.

Language arts manipulatives.

Our rest time consists of stories being ready by our friends.  It's a nice way for her to feel less alone and stay connected.

One nice thing has been that we have been doing a lot of outdoor time.  Really having lots of fun with recess and PE!  Got to wear these students out!

Height and Weight
Little Sweetie is 48 pounds this month and up a little bit to 45 and 5/8 inches.

Personality
She's been very happy and confident, but with the self isolation we are seeing her moods shift very quickly from happy to sad/clingy to angry/upset.  I know she feels very unsure right now with everything going on, so we are trying to be as patient and supportive as we can, while also managing our own feelings about the situation.  It's a brave new world for everyone.

Developmental Milestones
With being her "teacher" now, I have to say I am incredible impressed with her school work.  Her math reasoning and logic is excellent and she is SO close to being a full reader, she just lacks some confidence.  Hoping we can build that with lots of family reading time.

Fun Tidbits
Happy St. Patrick's Day from our new homeschool students!

Let's hope these two are lucky and have some good teachers!  Eeek!

So that's this month...shelter-in-place regulations are likely to be ordered soon.  I don't anticipate anything getting back to normal anytime soon.  I'd be delighted if it were May, but I think that's really optimistic.  Maybe if people would follow the rules about self-isolating to not spread the virus, we could be out faster!

Nurse Little Sweetie wants YOU to take the pandemic seriously!

Good night,
