June 19

And we've made it to June!  Trust me, in 2020, that's not an easy task by any means.  At-home schooling is finally finished but the pandemic, sadly, is not.  So we're working to find our way into a new summer routine!

Little Sweetie finished up the school year strong.  We will still be practicing our skills over the summer, but I think we are all very happy to be done with formal schooling for right now!

Someone loves science experiments!

Working on her computer skills and learning how to email!

Lots of "Centers" activities to help her fine motor and planning skills.  Playing nail salon was a hit, blocks are always a good go-to, and she's quite the puzzle queen now!

Working on our math with a card game!

Memorial Day Wreath art activity!

As usual, cooking is a big part of our life, so we made it a big part of our curriculum.  Measuring, planning, chemistry, fine motor work, and delicious treats to keep our spirits up in quarantine?  Win-win!

Can't go wrong with peanut butter cookies!

This watermelon drink was very refreshing!

It's getting hot out, so a mango pineapple creamsicle was very appreciated!

And then, in a blink, our kindergartener was ready to move on to first grade.  So many feelings, but mostly just proud of our girl!

But once school was done, we had to figure out what to do with our days!  We needed to get out of the house but stay safe, so we are focusing on outdoor activities where we can socially distance.  Farms seem to be our biggest hit so far!

Blueberry picking!

We went to pick blackberries at P-6, but by the time we got there, the picking was closed!  Thankfully, we still got to pick sunflowers and veggies!

Little Sweetie also got to try a seesaw for the first time!

7 Acre Wood was a hit with its baby goats and zip line swing!

Our big adventures this month were heading to visit Mimi and Pop-Pop for Big Brother's early birthday celebration with pool time, a drive thru safari, gardening with Pop-Pop; and then enjoying a surprise birthday parade on Big Brother's actual birthday!

She was so happy to finally get to swim in this pool!

Helping Pop-Pop pick tomatoes!

Happy birthday cake number 1!

Very surprised by a giant birthday parade with a fire truck for Big Brother's birthday!

Birthday kisses from Little Sweetie to her Big Brother!

Height and Weight
Little Sweetie is staying consistent at 49.4 pounds this month and finally hit 46 inches!

Personality
Working a lot on our tone this month and being kind.  She's still happy and fun but she's also quick to get upset if she feels that we've wronged her in some fashion (like slightly raising our voice to remind her for the fourth time to GO BRUSH YOUR TEETH).  Since there's not a lot of urgency or rush to our days, she gets distracted playing very easily and bristles if we remind her to do something.  We are all working on our patience with being home together all the time.

She really is pretty sweet though.

Developmental Milestones
Well, our biggest milestones this month involve teeth!  Little Sweetie has now officially lost 4 teeth total, with two just this past month (one of her lowers and one of her top teeth)!  She hates them getting loose and lets them hang on until the last possible thread, but feels so much happier when they finally fall out.

Toothless!

We've also discovered that she is extremely talented with her art skills!  She won a citywide art contest in the Kindergarten division for her work, "Tukey Toucan Helps Banana Monkey."  So proud of her!

Our artist during the virtual awards ceremony...sadly, no downtown reception thanks to COVID.  But glad we got to celebrate her and see her work (she had done it at school so we hand't seen it)!

Summer might mean a less rigorous schedule, but it doesn't mean slacking off.  I'm especially concerned about another pandemic shut down this fall, so we are keeping up our school skills as best we can to be prepared.

Fun Tidbits
It was Big Brother's birthday this month, so that means picture time!  We got some great family pics as well as some lovely Father/Daughter, Mother/Daughter, and Sibling shots to commemorate the occasion.

Every day together as a family, no matter how difficult, is a blessing.

With the pandemic still going on, I have no idea what next month has in store for us.  I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

Good night,
