July 19

Another month of the pandemic comes to a close...I know it's hard for Little Sweetie to not be around other kids (it's hard for Momma and Daddy too) but we're doing the best we can and had some great moments this past month.

Very thankful for boat days during all of this!  Time up at the lake is always fun!

Finding empty green space to run around in or find artistic inspiration is a weekly occurrence.  The change of scenery is always welcome!

Fulfilled a long held goal of biking all the way to Sonic for ice cream!

Keeping our cooking skills in practice and making some meatballs!

Independence Day ended up being a good day.  Although we didn't go anywhere, we filled our day with some fun activities (lots of treat-making!) and lucked out because our neighborhood sponsored a nighttime firework display instead of its usual afternoon social events.  This was great because we could literally walk outside and see firework and then walk inside and go to bed, no going anywhere and getting stuck in traffic.  We could get use to this!

Happy 4th of July from these two!

First recipe of the day...some patriotic yogurt bark!

Next up, we tried to make some ice cream with ice cream maker Little Sweetie got for her birthday.  It made more of a milkshake consistency, so we turned to our...

Trusty ice cream ball!  Fun for the entire family!

Delicious!

Our biggest excitement of this month however was Little Sweetie finally getting to experience her Girl Scout Camp dreams!  Although the traditional camp schedule was cancelled due to COVID, they did allow Scouts to come and to a Family Day, where girls could come with members of their family, have their own homebase area and rotate around to stations to experience tradition camp activities safely.  It was 10.5 hours, in the heat (thankfully we had pool time and sprinkler play time on the schedule), and we walked around 16,000 steps, but Little Sweetie was dedicated and made in the entire day.  She had a blast!

Ready for a fun day a Girl Scout Camp!

Our socially distant personal homebase!  We rested, ate, crafted, and played cards here.

Ready to go exploring!!!

There was a nature hike scavenger hunt...she was determined to find everything on the list!

We hiked all over camp, but we found everything!

Really enjoyed checking out all the camp areas!

She loved archery!  She was sadly a year too young for the real bow, but they did a great job getting her excited about the Daisy bow.

Momma had a good time too!

Little Sweetie was also too young to ride at the equestrian center, but they did allow the younger girls to groom, paint, and bathe the horses.  She loved it!

Height and Weight
Little Sweetie finally hit 50 pounds this month and is 46 1/8 inches!

Personality
Happy and loving, but really use to getting her own way right now.  If school does go back in the fall, she's going to have to get used to the concept of people not always letting her pick the activity or having her choose everything.  It will be a learning curve for certain when she's got more kids to interact with again and not just two parents trying to survive the day!

Developmental Milestones
She's been doing a great job on the learning time we have her do each day to help keep her school skills sharp and she's finding creative ways to entertain herself throughout the day!

She really enjoys creating!

Fun Tidbits
We had to take Big Brother to California this month for him to begin his clinical trial treatments.  Little Sweetie stayed home with Mimi and Pop-Pop here to watch her.  They had a lovely time and it was so nice to come home to an art gallery of their adventures.

We hate to leave her but so glad to have family close and willing to take care of her for us!

This time next month, we should know if the kids have school or not.  What crazy times!

Good night,
