February 19

Another busy month with our growing little girl!  Besides some not-so-fun teething time, we've had a wonderful time, especially as the weather's gotten nicer.

Thank goodness for nice weather!  It's so nice to play outside!

But there have definitely been some cranky days...almost a week went by with constant fussiness (from which she would eventually pass out from exhaustion) and then one tiny corner of a tooth pushed through and she was back to her happy self.  Just one corner, we're still waiting on the rest of the tooth (and hoping that she only gets this fussy for the initial corner)!

Unfortunately, we have had a bit of sickness this past month.  Thankfully, the worst that Little Sweetie got was just a runny nose and a cough (which also cleared up the minute that tooth poked through), but Daddy, Momma, and Big Brother did have a 24-hour stomach bug.  The only bright spot to this was that we kept brother home an extra day from school to make sure he was recovered and got to have a special playdate together like old times!

First a fun lunch together following errands at the mall, then playing at the Germ Tree together!  Little Sister is now a master of the slide and of turtle climbing!

But even on days where we are not as lucky to have Big Brother with us, we have lots of fun!  As much as I hate to admit it, Little Sweetie is definitely becoming a big girl!  She's eating big girl foods...

She likes shrimp!  And sandwiches!  I'm excited that she's finally starting to eat bread!

And pancakes!  Although she might like these a little too much...we caught her hiding them down her shirt for later.

She's also doing big girl activities...

So brave on the zip line at My Gym!

Working on mastering painting and Play-Doh.

She LOVES Legos!

She is almost able to climb up on both her horsies all on her own when she wants to ride.  Exciting for her, a bit scary for Momma watching her!

Looking at books is starting to be more interesting to her.  Big Brother was always big on looking at books and we're glad she is starting to get into the habit as well!

Someone is also getting a little particular about her outfits and hair bows...she's picking out clothes and very demanding about which and how many hair bows she wants in her hair.

And she still likes to try to go potty (we're still working on her technique)!

Height and Weight
Still our little pipsqueak at 22 lbs. and just over 31 inches.  She's got little baby friends that are going to catch her soon in the weight department!

Personality
Now that the grumpiness has passed, we are getting our happy baby girl back.  She's really starting to develop a sense of humor, which Big Brother is loving!  He loves being silly and trying to make her laugh and she's loving learning about being silly!

Bath time laugh time!

She started hiding in the basket to make me laugh when she pops up!

The only time now that she gets really upset is if she is told "no."  She screws up her face and makes the saddest expression you've ever seen!  It simultaneously makes us want to laugh and apologize to her!  We're sorry Little Sweetie, but "no" is a necessary part of life that keeps you safe and you have to learn to accept it!

Developmental Milestones
Let's she...she's taken off and "put on" a shirt for the first time (just put her head back through, not the arms) by herself, which is pretty awesome since Big Brother still has some issue with that.

Ta-da!  Off!

And back on!

One thing that is not going so well, though, is her transition to real milk.  She's not a fan.  And she's never going to fully wean.  We even tried to flavor her milk with some vanilla instant breakfast to make it sweet.  She gave it a try one day and then refused it the rest of the week.  We'll keep trying, but we can't afford to fully wean her until she'll take real milk because she needs the extra fat in her diet.  I think that she's playing us so that she can keep nursing!

Making her dinosaur "roar" at the milk to show her displeasure.  She did end up taking a couple of sips, which gave us false hope.

"Ok, I tried some of that white stuff you gave me...now here's the boppy so you can give me the real stuff."

Other fun things include her new found love of being chased (such as running from us when we are trying to get her dressed, and then turning around and giggling at us in order to egg us on to chase after her) and her desire to do some chores like brother, such as feeding the dog (oh, if only this want to be helpful around the house would last!).

Fun Tidbits
It's a running joke in our family about the amazing, nearly magnetic, attraction kids seem to have to the dog statue at Old Navy.  Well, now Target has a dog statue too.  With as often as we are at Target already, with this addition, we might as well just move there.

And that's it for now, especially because we took WAY too many pictures of our sweetheart this month.  So goodnight, and this tired lady will leave you with a picture of this tired little lady.

Rest time with Daddy (while Momma goes and runs 10 miles).

Good night,

Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Valentine's Day, everyone!  We had a great day celebrating our love as a family.  After Momma ran her 11 miles at half marathon training, we went downtown to see Sesame Street Live (so romantic, lol)!  Despite what these pictures indicate, the kids actually loved it!

Stop taking our picture!  We just want to see the show!

We're serious.  There are way more interesting things to look at than your camera phone...

...like that!!!

Totally transfixed by the show and by POPCORN!!!

Did I eat all that popcorn...can I have more?

Just some selfies with Daddy, Momma, and...Zooey!

Our attempts to get a picture of them happy with their balloons.  This was the best we got.  They were not in picture taking moods today!

We continued our celebration at home too, with flowers, chocolates, new books and heart-shaped pizza!

Little Sister and I are some lucky ladies!  Lovely flowers for us from Daddy.  The kids also got some chocolates, a tic-tac-toe game, and some new Valentine's books.  Daddy also gifted me with some yummy chocolates and shiny things and I made him homemade peanut butter cups.

And, of course, a heart-shaped pizza for dinner (by request).  Love was in the air!

Happy Valentine's Day from my cute little Valentines (even though I could NOT get them in the same picture wearing their outfits)!

Had to snap this one...this is Little Sweetie in one of Little Buddy's Valentine's outfits...from when he was 8 months old!  And she's nearly 16 months!  He was such a chunk and she's such a peanut, it cracks me up!

Hope everyone had a lovely day with people they love,
