It's the last days of summer...better take all the lazy morning snuggles we can get!
We finished up July with another camp just for Little Sweetie...dance camp! She loved it and we really enjoyed her performance at the end of the week.
Lunching in our leotard after dance camp!
Ready for her performance!
Flowers for our beautiful ballerina! Proud of all the work she did this week!
We also took a quick trip up to Waco to visit with several other Sanfilippo families. Little Sweetie and a great time swimming and playing with another super sibling and with the other Sanfilippo kiddos!
Swimming party!
I love this picture. M has Sanfilippo just like Big Brother, but she and Little Sweetie became fast friends. True friendship can overcome any communication barriers.
A big part of the past month was our San Diego trip, which I wrote about in its own separate post. After San Diego, we had another fun event...Mimi and Pop-Pop came to visit! We decided to take them on a field trip the Blue Bell Creamery and then we got to celebrate Mimi's birthday!
Made it to Blue Bell! We had a great time exploring the museum and watching the ice cream production from the observation deck!
Enjoying the very generous $1 ice cream scoops! She ate every drop of her chocolate!
Silly girl posing in the gift shop!
Playing on the statues!
Such a fun time with Pop-Pop and Mimi! And a special hug for Big Brother!
Big hugs from Big Brother too!
Of course, since Little Sweetie is the Chef around here, she had to be in on making Mimi's birthday cake. And then she decided to let Mimi assist in her dinner preparation too.
Helping Pop-Pop making Mimi's cake. Aprons were required!
Showing Mimi how to make the herbed cream cheese for the pinwheels!
Rolling up the pinwheels! She did a great job.
These actually turned out to be pretty delicious!
Of course, we had several other cooking forays this month. She's really quite comfortable in the kitchen!
Making pancakes with her new pancake molds!
And a Purple Power Smoothie to compliment the pancake and complete our breakfast for dinner menu!
She also made homemade popcorn this month for our movie night!
Height and Weight
Staying strong at 39.6 pounds and just a hair over 41 inches!
Our beautiful girl and her puppy dog!
Personality
She has been singing the Letter People song for Miss O lately and her favorite line is, "I'm Miss O, I'm obstinate, so obstinate!" and if that isn't true!!!! Someone has really been testing boundaries and seems to be going out of her way to be contrary. I know it's part of this age, but sometimes she can get PRETTY infuriating! It seems like everything I say she has to contradict. We're working on disagreeing respectfully and actually listening to what others are saying.
On the less contrary side, she's also been very fun and goofy, as these pictures with her friend K from Kanga's illustrate.

"OOOO, the kangaroo is eating my hand!"
Developmental Milestones
She's very interested in reading right now and has memorized one of her favorite books (a PJ Mask one) and reads it to us regularly. Her writing and phonics has really come along, so I see reading being a key feature of this upcoming year.
The library is almost like a second home at the point! Reading rocks!
In terms of her fine motor, she has been having so much fun with tracing paper and my old tracing books. I'm pretty impressed with her artistic creations! She also keeps designing pretty cool structures with our building toys, and lots of attention to detail to fit the imaginary world she's created.
A fully functional zoo with multiple exhibits made out of Magna-tiles!
Fun Tidbits
So many funny Little Sister-isms right now. First of all, she's obsessed with telling us how big or small each blueberry she eats is. Seriously. An announcement on size is made prior to early every bite. In addition to being very interested in the size of her food, she also likes to pretend that "kitchen monkeys" are stealing it, waiting for us to look away so she can eat a bite and then puzzle aloud were said bite went. It can make dinner go a bit long, but I do enjoy seeing sense of humor and "trickery" develop.
Also, as I was going through pictures for this blog, I was struck with how many pictures I had of Little Sweetie hugging her big brother. Oh sweet girl, I know sometimes it's hard to have a big brother that's more of a little brother, but I love how much you love him no matter what.
These beautiful siblings!
We'll miss summer, but I'm looking forward to her starting Pre-K. I have a lot of adventures planned for this year! This is our last year together before she starts kindergarten; I'm ready to make the most of it.
Until next month,
