February 19

Why, hello, February, it's nice to see you!  Well mostly.  Because we had some more history-making moments this month already and, frankly, I'm getting a little tired of living through history.  But here's some of our normal activities first.

The weather has been kind of yucky recently (more on that later) so more inside time has been a must.  Of course, Little Sweetie always has her cooking to keep us occupied!

Funny Bunny Quesadillas!

Some pan-fried sliced steak accompanied by homemade sweet potato slices and avocado aioli!

Homemade Parmesan Rosemary and Everything Bagel crackers!

Strawberry "Santas;" we tried!

Besides cooking, she's gotten really into crafting with the sewing kits she received for Christmas.  We've been really proud of how independent she's gotten with this skill!

Our sewing superstar!

February also means it's Girl Scout cookie time!  Our little Daisy has been hard at work to sell enough boxes to cover her cost of camp.  It's been impressive to see her take ownership of her selling and sorting!

It's cookie time!

February also brought Valentines celebrations!  Love our sweet Valentines!

Happy Valentines Day!

She's had a lot of fun at school this month too!  Catholic Schools Week brought a host of dress up days and she was more than happy to participate.  One of the most fun was the "Dress Up Like Your Favorite Teacher" day!

Is that Little Sweetie or Mrs. G??  So hard to tell them apart!

Now because of some unprecedented weather (again, more coming on that) we had to do a few remote days of school.  They are definitely not our favorite but we do like seeing all the amazing work she can do

Remote learning time and her excellent weekend reports!

So here's the big and historical story for the month:  It got cold in Texas.  Not just cold, but COLD.  Snowing, freezing cold.  And while it was fun for a minute it was also a little scary.  People went without power and water and pipes starting bursting.  Schools were closed for a week and we hunkered down trying to stay warm and sane with bad roads keeping us home.

Progressively warmer attire for our dog walking time!

Real, actual SNOW!!!

Thank goodness we had real snow clothes so Little Sweetie could play and roll to her heart's content.

Snowman building (meet Snow-Cone!) and sledding in our backyard...things we never thought we would see!

Little Sweetie was mesmerized by the icicles and was ok with sitting by the fire to stay warm, but she wasn't a big fan of the power being out.  Thankfully, we were only out 17 hours and managed to stay warm during that time.

Height and Weight
Little Sister is strong and healthy at 53.2 pounds and just about 48 inches.

Personality
Little Sweetie is fun and funny, with a big heart.  We love this little girl!

All smiles!

Developmental Milestones
Besides her awesome writing, reading, and crafting skills, she continues to let her imagination lead her on building amazing things and concocting detailed imaginary adventures.

Engineering skills at work.

Illustrating scenes from a big we just read and making up more stories about the characters.

Snowed in means board game time and she was all in on learning how to play Clue!  She's getting pretty good too.

Fun Tidbits
A diner in Maine surprised Big Brother with some special pancakes and sent both kids these awesome shirts!  We love seeing this sibling duo in coordinating outfits.

Love these smiles!

We were hoping that 2021 was going to be a little less historic than 2020 but Winter Storm Uri seems to want to beg to differ.  Hoping for a boring, mild March!

Until then,
