One month! When did this happen!?!?
It's been a crazy month too. Besides lots of visits from family and friends, Big Brother had his burn accident, resulting in all of us (Mommy, Daddy, Big Brother, and Little Sweetie) having to stay overnight at Texas Children's Hospital downtown. Thankfully, Little Sweetie is pretty easy going and transports well; the chaos of everything didn't seem to bother her at all.
Our cool cucumber!
We're starting to notice a lot of differences and similarities between our two kiddos. Still not sure what's due to gestational age (Big Brother was born at 37 weeks and Little Sweetie at 38 weeks, 3 days), gender differences, and genetic differences). Currently, Little Sweetie seems more calm and alert than her brother did at this age. It felt like we didn't see Big Brother's eyes open for weeks, but she's always watching us and checking out the world around her. She's also probably more calm because she heard all of brother's loudness in the womb and it doesn't phase her now! And while she is calm, when she gets hungry, she resorts immediately to banshee scream mode. No in-betweens for her! She is similar in that she is eating well (and eating A LOT) just like her brother, and is chubbing up similarly. Think we just have big babies!
Already growing out of her newborn sized outfits!
We also had a lot of firsts this month...
First time in the ergo! She fights at first and then normally goes to sleep. So helpful for me to have my hands free to chase her brother!
First playdate! Ms. B brought her two-month old, C, up to visit. I know they'll be fast friends. Of course, Big Brother had to join the photo shoot as well!
First wedding! Big Brother's babysitter, Ms. A, got married and brother got to be the ring bearer! We had to get a few pics of Little Sweetie with the beautiful bride!
All dressed up for the wedding!
The wedding coincided with the first visit from Mamaw and Papaw! I'll get more pictures posted, but here is Little Sweetie with her Papaw...they were totally taken with each other!
Height and Weight
Approximately 23 in. and 11.25 lbs. by Momma and Daddy's measurements. Getting so big, so fast!
Personality
Overall, pretty calm until she gets hungry! She loves to cuddle and we certainly don't mind doing so!
Developmental Milestones
Little Sweetie has a great latch and nurses well. As she gains weight, she has been sleeping longer stretches, mostly three hours at night (she got our hopes up with two days of four hours, but it was not to be yet). Otherwise, she eats about every two hours during the day. She is really showing interest in looking at things, from faces to toys. It's very fun to watch her discover the world around her!
Fun Tidbits
Her brother loves her. Almost too much! I caught him trying to give her a doctor check-up today ("Honey, baby sister doesn't need a tongue depressor in her mouth please.") and climbing into her play mat with her ("Honey, we sit on the outside of the mat and play with her."). I do hope he continues to want to play with her (be it in more age appropriate ways) because I would love to see them become great friends!Good night,
LSM
