First up was a trip to the zoo. But it wasn't any old trip; we were fortunate enough to get an invite to Dreamnight at the Houston Zoo, a private event for chronically ill children and their families. Food, goodie bags, and less crowds made it a much less stressful and much more enjoyable experience for all of us.
Special guest at the zoo for Dreamnight!
Everyone is ready for adventure!
A little drumming before we go on...
Little Buddy's favorite waterfall!
He found the gorilla!
Hello, rhino!
Giraffe feeding time!
Carousel time!
Bye giraffe! I have to go find my other favorite animal...
...THE TIGER!!!
Please can I take him home???
Happy Boy enjoyed the evening!
My two favorites. What a great night!
The next morning we kept the fun going by jumping in the car and driving to San Antonio to take Little Buddy to Morgan's Wonderland as an early birthday treat. This completely accessible and inclusive park is a place where all kids can play together. They just added a splash park last year and we though it would be a great gift for Little Buddy to get to experience it. And we were right! It was the least stressful trip we have taken in a long time and it was worth it just to see Little Buddy (and Little Sweetie!) just be a kid, with no one giving him a second glance if he acted a little different. What an amazing place!
Sorry, Disney, I think THIS is the happiest place on Earth!
The layout of the water park was incredible and so much fun!
These two couldn't get enough!
Love watching Little Buddy have FREEDOM!
We were also fortunate enough to hang out with a Sanfilippo sibling who lives in the area!
Little Sweetie relaxing back at the hotel after a day of splash park fun (and dinner on the Riverwalk!). I believe she said "Ahhhh, this is the life!"
Smiles at the Alamo!
Hello from Prairie Girl and Frontier Boy! Couldn't pass up the hats!
Exploring another splash pad area!
Engineering at the water table with dad!
Little Sweetie loved this Octopus!
Seeing Little Buddy just be free was one of the best parts of the entire trip.
The Pirate Area was a big hit as well!
Water cannons!
Slide time!
Safari boat ride with Little Sweetie!
Lunch break and hugs for Daddy!
Figuring out the water valves...
Intrigued...
Hmmmm...that gives me an idea!
Soaking Daddy!
All the joy!
A few last pics in front of the Hang 10 Harbor!
We love San Antonio and Inspiration Island!
A quick carousel ride before heading home!
It was such a great trip! I can't wait to go back. But we still have plenty of other summer fun coming up that we are looking forward to!
Like summer reading at the library!
And adventures with Ms. A, who is home from college!
This face is definitely ready to make memories and so am I!
See you next month,
LSM
