January 19

Kicking off 2019 with a lot of fun with our Little Sweetie!  It's always a challenge to keep Little Sweetie and Big Brother occupied and having fun together, but I think we had some success!

Going out to eat is always a big component of break, and it's made even better by having a Sanfilippo family member come in from out of town to share it with you!

Kanga's playtime was a definite winter break must-do!  Little Sweetie was so excited that she was big enough now to do the wall climbing and that her friend G could come play too!

There's a lot of times that I get frustrated trying to keep both kids happy and stimulated over break.  Many times the things Little Buddy wants to do are boring to Little Sweetie and the things she wants to do are too advanced for him.  But I was determined to 'make it work' and find a way to play together.  And we did!

Picnic time!  Little Sweetie prepared us a pretend picnic and we worked with Little Buddy to get him to say the words associated with the picnic.  It was a lot of fun and I was so proud with how excited Little Sweetie was when Little Buddy would say a word!

Actually playing together!

Afterwards, Little Sweetie remembered that we had a book about picnics, so she asked me to read it to them.  Then she decided that she would 'read' it again, this time to Little Buddy.

The picnic idea was so successful that Little Sweetie insisted on doing it again the next day, but this time in costume!  Love it when these two show their connection.

A rare moment of cuddling on the couch, watching cartoons.

Being off of school meant that Little Buddy got to go cheer Little Sweetie on at gymnastics!

Can't be all playtime...have to get our Run Club laps in too!

As usual, Little Sweetie's cooking also keeps her busy.  She was very excited to try out her knew knife and cutting gloves!

Why don't I bake cookies dressed as a super hero???

The homemade hot chocolate with star cookies were amazing!

An expert peeler already and now working on her knife skills!

Cutting, grating, stirring...yes, she may be making delicious soup, but she's also learning important skills.  And not just the cooking part either.  The organization, the patience, the step-by-step to accomplish something bigger.  And I get to be there with her.  This is my favorite part of everything.  So much to be learned and loved in the kitchen.

She can also keep herself busy independently, which has been awesome, because then I get to see how her boredom turns into creativity.  She may fight me trying to watch a show, but when I don't give in, she finds the best things to play and do.

Working on her pretty complicated sticker book.

Excavating for dinosaurs!

Her independent Lego skill has been astonishing me.

Learning anatomy with her magnetic figure toys.

But we also enjoy when we can do fun stuff with her together!

Loving doing her science box with Daddy!

Playing cards with Momma (with zero meltdowns over dropped/unorganized cards thanks to our new cardholders!).

Stepping out of our comfort zone and trying something new as a family...roller skating!  So proud of how she never gave up!

Height and Weight
Staying steady in weight at 41.4 pounds this month and still right about and 42.25 inches.

Growing big and tall with her "twinkie" G!

Personality
Very loving lately, and I don't just mean with us.  She's not into dolls, but she does love her stuffed animals and calls them her babies and she is their momma.  She takes very good care of them.  I love seeing this nurturing side with her, especially as it co-exists with her wonderful spitfire, can do personality.  She is the best of everything.

Taking care of her baby WILLPower kitty at breakfast.

Developmental Milestones
Again, fine motor skills and social development is cruising right along.  Her attention is great and she can focus, but she does like to keep up and move quite a bit.  And I just love her "can do" attitude.  She never gives up.

Lots of drawing time of masterpieces this month!
.

Fun Tidbits
Ms. 'I'm never cutting my hair' finally changed her tune and allowed a trim but only because, and I quote, "I'm sick of it getting stuck in my armpits when I put on a shirt."  That's possibly the most rational reason I have every heard for a haircut.

Adios, inches!

Evened up and a little more manageable.

Few things make me happier than this girl and her brother.

My joy.

See you next month,

LSM
