June 19

Why, hello summer!  It's nice to see you!  I mean, I guess it's nice.  It's really hot.  And we've been really busy.  And I'm really tired.  But Little Sweetie's having fun, so I guess that's what matters.  She finished up the school year strong and, because she finished up a week before Big Brother, she got to have a special week of fun with Momma and Daddy!

Recognized for her 1st Grade 2nd Place Spelling Bee placement!

Last day of 1st Grade!

She's grown so much (and those shoes have been through so much, lol)!

Celebratory end of school Chuy's lunch!

New bike for the rising 2nd grader!

We kicked off our special week with a lovely tea party for just Momma, Little Sweetie, and her doll!

Next up, our first mani-pedi in over a year!

Coding fun with Daddy!

Special golf day with Daddy!

Visiting the downtown Girl Scout Store and Museum!

Blackberry picking!

Finally got to take our girl kayaking!   She loved it.

Enjoying a walk through the book maze after our kayaking.

Finishing the week with a bike ride up to Sonic for some ice cream!

The fun didn't stop once Big Brother finished school for the summer; it just jumped up a few notches!

Meeting Daddy for lunch at the Mall and checking out the new seating spaces outside!

Kicking off summers with VBS!  Little Sweetie got to see Momma and Big Brother every day at the games station and got to see L too!

Celebrating Big Brother's birthday by writing him a special note and then cuddling with him on his new yogibo.

Awesome job volunteering at our annual lemonade stand with her friends!

Lake time!  Special swimming time with Uncle C and Aunt A in town!

Enjoying outside time together on the swings!

A fun afternoon at the Dr. Seuss Experience!

And, as always, lots of cooking!

We turned those delicious blackberries into some homemade jam!

Made a delicious new version of mac n' cheese!

Her favorite dessert to make:  chocolate lava cake!

Tortilla pie:  delicious and pretty simple!

The flavors in the roasted carrots were surprisingly fantastic!  A good compliment to the crunchy chicken recipe.

Height and Weight
Little Sweetie came in this month at 48.2 pounds and 48.5 inches.   Both she and Big Brother have a had a huge jump in summer activity, but it's showing with a bit of an impact on their weight.  Going to have to make sure to give them some more high protein, high healthy fat food to keep them strong for summer!

Our little slugger using her muscles to take out a piñata at a birthday party!

Personality
Sweet and loving but still testing boundaries with some of her tone and wording.  Normal for her age but we continue to work to give her opportunities to express herself while still focusing on kindness and respect.

One of her sweet moments:  cuddling Buster.

Developmental Milestones
Big strides for our little lady in her reading and critical thinking development and in her swimming this month!

Reading some substantial chapter books with minimal illustrations by herself on her own initiative.  Huge jump for her!

Just doing some Venn diagrams to compare and contrast...no big deal.

Making BIG strides in her swimming this year.  PRs in all her strokes and even placing in the top of her age group!  So proud of her for trying her best every day!

Fun Tidbits
It was Big Brother's birthday this month and we were blessed with beautiful pictures by our fantastic photographer.  She got some great family shots, a few good ones of Little Sweetie, and then several sibling ones that just fill my soul with joy.   Such sweet moments.

We will never take our time together for granted.

More summer fun and craziness is on the way next month.  I'll be exhausted, but summer memories as a family are important.  We only get so many and every moment with my Little Sweetie is amazing!

Good night,

LSM
