Coming as zero surprise to anyone, we dove right into the school year and have continued our probably-too-full calendar agenda. Although, without the pandemic, this probably would have been our lives for the past two years (so, thanks Covid, I guess?). We are just in another busy season, especially with Little Sweetie growing up and adding more activities into her schedule.
I do think Little Sweetie has relished being back in school with her friends, even if third grade is no joke. There is a lot more work and more assessments, but overall it is going ok. She likes being back in choir and in Chess Club!
All about our favorite third grader!
Loving choir with her besties!
Chess Club time!
Someone has also been excited to start another year of Girl Scouts. Hard to believe that she's already a second year Brownie!
How did my little girl get so big!?!
We also had a few special events come up this past month including a baby shower, a Sensory Friendly Mass for the Amazing Grace program, and a birthday party!
Celebrating cousin L's new baby!
Lectoring at the Sensory Mass...she did great!
Happy to celebrate G's birthday with Super Friends!
With fall closing in and more activities taking up our lives, we were glad to carve out a little time to say goodbye to summer with a few more trips to the lake and a baseball game!
Proving that her magic swimsuit from PK3 still fits!
It's been a good summer at the lake with our little waterskier!
A great time at the Astros game, especially after someone convinced Daddy to get her a new hat!
And, as usual, there is always cooking!
Making a HUGE amount of cowboy cookies as part of her science project on measuring!
Breakfast dinner with chocolate lava cake for dessert? Why not!
Salmon and asparagus for dinner, with homemade truffles for dessert!
Height and Weight
Little Sweetie is at 64.4 lbs. this month and up to about 52. 5 inches!
Big girl in Daddy's new truck!
Personality
Happy and playful and still easily amused. Third grade is A LOT and she's adapting well, but we also have to work on stopping her from apologizing from things that don't warrant an apology.
Simple gifts from a friend are enough to ignite joy!
Developmental Milestones
Third grade really is a big deal. I've said that a lot because it's true. It's also the first year she's had any real structure since pre-Covid kindergarten. Due dates and quizzes and using a planner are a lot to get used to, but she's really working on it. We can see our little girl growing up.
She's been helping more around the house with chores and even can help take Buster on walks (as long as she remembers to drop the leash when he tries to chase squirrels)!
Still has a lot of craftiness in her and I love when she's bored and invents things today. She got really into sewing and potholders again recently. It was worth the mess in the office to watch her create!
Keeping herself busy!
Little Sweetie even Big Brother a potholder to fidget with...he loved the texture!
Fun Tidbits
Little Sweetie has made a new friend! We are currently training JM as a new sitter and Little Sweetie thinks he's a pretty cool guy. Not only do they share birthdays, but he's also a semi-professional archer and built great forts. I think they are fast friends now!
Little Sweetie and JM!
Little Sweetie showing off her archery skills to JM.
The amazing fort they lashed together!
All in all, I'd say a really good month! Not sure how we are now entering in the last month of Little Sweetie being 8, but here we are. We'll have a 9 year old next month!
Good night,
LSM
